PB4L Matrix

At St Joseph’s, our PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) Learning Matrix outlines the expectations we hold for all students across every area of school life. Grounded in our call to Learn, Love and Live the Truth, the matrix teaches and reinforces the four key behaviour pillars that guide our school community: Act Safely, Be Respectful, Care for All, and Do Your Best.

The matrix provides students with simple, consistent examples of what these expectations look like in action—such as using safe hands and feet, including others, caring for belongings, being prepared, and actively participating in learning. These behaviours are explicitly taught, modelled, and revisited throughout the year so that students understand what is expected and feel confident in how to contribute positively to our school environment.

By using the PB4L Learning Matrix across classrooms, playgrounds, and shared spaces, we create a common language and a supportive culture where students are encouraged to make responsible choices. It helps us build a safe, respectful, and inclusive community where every learner can flourish.
