Students are encouraged to borrow regularly from the wide selection of books available in our library. Each class has a scheduled borrowing time, and students are also welcome to browse and borrow before school or during break times. Families are invited to take an interest in the books their children bring home, and we ask that all students use a library bag to help protect these shared resources.
Our students are also invited to take part in the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC), which promotes a love of reading through engagement with a diverse range of books from the official PRC list. Those who achieve their reading goals receive recognition from the NSW Premier with a special certificate.
All classes participate in regular library lessons with the teacher librarian. These sessions focus on developing information and research skills, as well as digital literacy capabilities that prepare students for learning in the 21st century. The library program is closely linked to classroom learning.
Each year, our school hosts a Book Fair, with proceeds used to purchase new and engaging library resources. We also celebrate Book Week annually with a colourful parade and a range of activities designed to foster a lifelong love of reading and literature.
